Clean Air/Environment

  • Wind energy is a significant source of renewable energy capacity in Pennsylvania. Since 2013, wind energy has become the largest source of renewable energy generation in Pennsylvania – 36 percent of renewable electricity in 2018.
  • Wind energy reduces emissions and water consumption by avoiding generation from fossil-fuel power plants. In 2019, 3.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions were avoided, the equivalent of 740,000 car’s worth of emissions, while 1.9 billion gallons of water consumption were avoided.
