Clean Jobs for PA Hails EQB Vote Affirming RGGI

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 13, 2021

The Clean Jobs for Pennsylvania coalition today issued the following statement after today's affirmative 15-4 vote by Pennsylvania's Environmental Quality Board on the Final Rulemaking for RGGI. Reporters seeking additional comment from CJFP leadership are welcome to be in touch.

Today’s affirmative vote by Pennsylvania’s Environmental Quality Board (EQB) is another major step forward in the effort to adopt a CO2 Budget Trading Program, known as RGGI. The EQB previously held ten public hearings and received more than 14,000 comments from Pennsylvanians, with a strong majority expressing support for RGGI noting the many health, economic and environmental benefits it will bring.

Pennsylvanians want this, and it’s clear that the more they learn about RGGI the more they like it. They know that the Commonwealth has the lousy distinction of being among the worst polluters of carbon gas by its electricity sector in the nation and that it needs to change if we’re going to meet climate goals and create new jobs.
